This thread was made to help the writers of the forum brainstorm together.
Writer's block happens to everyone and perhaps by talking about an SL situation going on someone can suggest an idea to fix it or get around it. I know that on occasion some characters of mine will stall and I put them on the shelf, think about them, then maybe days, weeks or months (::coughs:: years) later I suddenly get an idea for them. I also tend to talk to other players about my thoughts and brainstorming and it helps. On more than one occasion I've had someone spot an inconsistency and offer a better solution.
This thread is useful in another way. If you have a character collecting dust, just mention them here if you're interested in putting them out there. It could be that another player needs a character like that, or finds them interesting, just be sure to mention what you're looking for if you have any guidelines for it at all.
Also, this is a good place to list what you've done to get over a mental writing block, or helpful articles you've found on writing that have improved your work. If you take anything from a book source list it and give the author credit. I have read many articles on grammar, punctuation and description that have helped me (though maybe not my typos). It's easy to get in a rut by using the same adjectives that you know and love over and over. If you've read a couple sentences you thought were well written, list them here, give credit to who wrote them, and say why they appealed to you. Sometimes it takes viewing another person's interpretation of others rping or the literature they're reading to see what's effective.
As you can see, the writing quality of this text-based rp is the primary focus. As the years have passed for me, I'd like to think the quality of my writing has improved. That wouldn't have happened without some great books and fellow rpers I met along the way. Hopefully this can be a website that helps other rpers along their path of collaborative writing.
So please, enjoy, share, brainstorm, brainfart here all you like.
